Porsche to make 20,000 units in the first year.
The Porsche Taycan is the Stuttgart-based manufacturer's first proper attempt at the electric car market. It is built on the J1 platform and takes inspiration from the Mission E concept that was revealed at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2015. Since then, many renders and spy shots have been floating around of different versions of the Taycan being tested. It finally seems like Porsche has zeroed in on a final production-spec model, as more footage has been revealed of the Taycan testing at the famous Nurburgring circuit in Germany.

The new Taycan seen in the spy footage sports an all-black camo livery with interesting tricks used to hide the true design of the car. Starting from the front, the Taycan sports rectangular shaped headlights which are masked by black tape as well as a fake headlight vinyl around the area to hide the details. In addition to this, the Taycan features very minor air intakes which show minimal cooling requirements for the sedan.

The rear gets a similar treatment with a thin LED strip tail light that runs along the tailgate being masked with black tape as well as an abnormally large fake taillight wrap around the area. Another interesting yet amusing trick used by Porsche to hide the Taycan is the addition of fake exhaust tips at the rear of the car.

While the technical specifications for the Taycan are yet to be revealed by Porsche, it has claimed that the Taycan will drive like a 911. The carmaker also claims that the Taycan will be one of the fastest accelerating Porsches around with a 0-100kmph sprint in around 3 seconds. Its range is also expected to be around the 500km mark.

The Porsche Taycan will be revealed in September at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show, with sales set to begin in December. Porsche plans to produce 20,000 units of the Taycan, although those plans may have to be altered as pre-bookings have already crossed over 20,000 units before its launch.
